If you want to get ahead and achieve your goals, you need to make sure you are pushing yourself to be a lifelong learner - that means you are always seeking personal and professional development.
Many people stop learning new skills after they leave school or after being on the job for a few years. It is wise to stay at the forefront of your industry and continue to develop skills you can use. After all, roles can change and it's important to evolve too.
There are many ways to do this, including reading books, listening to podcasts, or catching up on the news. I've learned a lot from many books over the years. For example, "War and Peace" by Leo Tolstoy taught me lessons about understanding people and society.
While in conversations, even asking thoughtful questions and listening to the people around you are ways you can learn something. Everyone has unique experiences and knowledge you can leverage, and others' insights may offer you a shortcut into what you have been trying to achieve.
The summer, especially when most take some time off, is a good time to learn about new topics, technologies, languages, or whatever interests you to help along on your journey to becoming better than you were yesterday. Don't be afraid to leave your comfort zone and learn new things.
