Freedom Mortgage was honored to attend a community kickoff hosted by Homes for Our Troops to celebrate the beginning of a specially adapted, mortgage-free home build for Army Corporal Kevin McCloskey in Upper Southampton, PA.
Homes for Our Troops is a privately funded 501(c) (3) nonprofit organization building specially adapted, mortgage-free homes nationwide for severely injured veterans from Iraq and Afghanistan. The goal of these homes is to restore some of the freedom and independence our veterans sacrificed while defending our country.
On June 8, 2008, Army Corporal Kevin McCloskey was driving in a convoy with the 506th Infantry Regiment (4th Brigade), 101st Airborne Division, in Logar Province, Afghanistan when his vehicle struck an improvised explosive device (IED). The explosion resulted in the loss of both legs, vision loss in his right eye, burns all over his body and a traumatic brain injury (TBI).
As a strong supporter of our active military and veterans, Freedom Mortgage was proud to present funds to Home for Our Troops after the kickoff ceremony. The funds were raised through a 5K Run/Walk created by the First Flyer Program at Cooper Rivers Stadium on Sunday, May 15, 2016.
